Classical dance has a special place in India's rich cultural heritage. Kathak is one of the ten major forms of Indian classical dance. The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the traveling bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathakars or storytellers.
Today, Pune is considered as one of the most thriving place for learning Kathak. KathakPathshala, a Kathak dance academy, follows tradition and provides authentic training to children starting from 7 years age to adults at any stage of life. The academy was founded in the year 2008 by Neha Muthiyan who personally attends each pupil at the class.
Being affiliated to Akhil Bhartiya GandharvaMahavidyalay, all students appear for their examinations and receive certificates and grades for their progress.
Apart from the training regimen, students are given plenty of exposure through books, workshops, interactions with senior dancers and learning programs.
KathakPathshala currently offers regular batches from two different centres in Pune:-
Rambaug SocietyHall, Off L B Shastri Road
Sevasadan School, Near Society Hall & Deenanath mangeshkar Hospital
